That's weird - not the pic I took at the site!

A bit more detail - there are two curb cuts on the northwest corner of the intersection to access the greenway... one is on Edwards Mill aligned with the crosswalk, the other is diagonally on the corner and aligns with the greenway. Bicyclists coming down Reedy Creek from the NC art museum have normally used the diagonal cut to safely enter the greenway and avoided the crosswalk. There are a surprising number of walkers now that the Agriculture building is open!

A temporary barrier was added to prevent walkers and cyclist turning south on Edwards Mill to use the (now closed) tunnel under the busy highway. My guess is the temporary barrier was moved multiple times, probably by cyclists, and someone decided to permanently cement it into the ramp. The permanent mounting may have been done by the city, or by the construction contractor of the Bandwidth building.

The barrier is facing the greenway with a blank white back facing the intersection, so it's confusing to a rider coming across to understand what they are to do - the entire curb cut is blocked off, but the greenway looks fine behind it.

Suggestions:
A) Move the barrier to the sidewalk/greenway on the southwest corner
B) Add instructions to both sides of these kinds of barriers
C) Try to balance open-ended developer schedules with the needs of citizens -

Our greenway system is fantastic but it's hard to recommend using it when they can be closed off with very little thought for the users... it's very similar bus transit - when the schedule and availability is random, no one will ride. Greenways often seem to remain closed even when there is no work being done. It's convenient for the developers but not for citizens who want to use the trails. We're not asking for NYC-style scaffolding and overhead safety panels, but many users would appreciate a tiny bit more accommodation.

BTW, the utility work appears to be done on the greenway along Reedy Creek across from the construction site.

I tried putting the service ID into search at the city website, but it came back with zero results. Is there a portal where we can see these requests online?

Here are a couple of additional pictures that show the problem - from across the intersection, a cyclist coming down Reedy Creek from the art museum would reasonably think the greenway is closed.

There's no information on the side of the barrier that faces the bike lane.

I believe the barrier is intended to prevent walkers from using the sidewalk on the SW corner, but the curious placement wasn't thought out by a fellow bicyclist.
