TV's and other electronic waste should not be left on the greenbelt.

The City of Burlington occasionally receives reports of illegal dumping of TV sets, computers, and other electronic waste throughout the city. These items are banned from the landfill and are not picked up by trash or recycling trucks. Leaving TVs, computers, and other items that aren’t typically picked up by trash or recycling services is a violation of City ordinance and is punishable by a $100 fine.

TVs and computer equipment contain hazardous materials that can be released into the environment if they are damaged or vandalized. We need everyone's cooperation in keeping Burlington clean and safe.

Vermont residents (including students from other states who live here) and certain businesses can dispose of TVs and computer equipment FREE at CSWD Drop-Off Centers. The Burlington location at 339 Pine Street is open Wed 9:30-5 and Thurs & Sat 8-3:30; the South Burlington site on Patchen Road is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 8-3:30 and Friday 9:30-5. Anyone witnessing someone actively illegally dumping TVs, computer equipment, or other items should make a report to the Burlington Police at 658-2700.
