I second this. This issue is extremely dangerous to oncoming traffic and for those leaving the community.

The visibility issue is terrible and almost got me and my baby killed this morning actually!! Completely clear and turned, 2s into turn someone came around a hair or two above speed limit, but if they didn’t pump the brakes it would’ve been an accident for larger vehicles (long SUV, minivans, trailers, etc)

This intersection is highly dangerous due to limited visibility. Visibility is impacted by both the height of the homeowners shrubs as well as the curve of the road. There is very little time to adjust as cars come around the corner with speed. Please address this issue by placing a mirror that allows a viewpoint to watch for oncoming cars.

Good morning. Thank you for submitting your request to the Howard County Department of Public Works\Traffic Engineering Division. The sight distance at the intersection of Florey Road and Hanover Road was reviewed in accordance with the criteria in the Howard County Design Manual. In accordance with Howard County Code Section 21.305 "Sight distance obstructions to traffic" the Department of Public Works and adjacent property owners will work together to address. Further, a proposed warning sign along Hanover Road will be investigated.

It is also noted that the speed of traffic along Hanover Road is a variable that affects the required sight distance. Hanover Road is posted at 25 mph. If speeding is observed, I encourage you and other residents to contact the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) to request enforcement - it would aid them if you can provide them with a typical time of day you notice speeding the most. An alternate option is to request the HCPD deploy a radar speed feedback sign; this device is temporarily installed on a rotating basis. Both requests can be made through the HCPD non-emergency number, (410) 313-2929.

There are "almost" accidents here daily... Needs to be addressed ASAP

This issue is of urgent nature. I fear in its current state is is just a matter of time before somebody gets hurt or worse.

Agree @rodneylang73. Between lack of visibility and cars flying around that corner at 50 mph its a ticking time bomb...

Past time for something of substance to be done about this. If some developer wanted to build something on that corner Howard County would have no trouble aproving the removal of an entire forest, but if a few bushes need to be prunned and a speed bump added to prevent accidents then an act of congress needs to happen. Typical bureaucratic responses and no real action.

This issue was posted in July of this year. The recommended sign has been placed at the bottom of the hill but the main issue hasn't been addressed where people coming out of Florey Road onto Hanover Road still are turning out blindly and it is a matter of time before there is an accident at this juncture. If a convex mirror is placed where the people on Florey can actually see the traffic coming UP the hill, we can turn out without the fear of getting hit by an oncoming CAR!

There was an accident at this spot this past weekend that left all of Florey Rd without power for over 4 hours on Sunday. Accidents can and will be prevented if the county cooperates with what we're requesting. The traffic on Hanover Rd is bound to get heavier as the congestion in the area increases, increasing the likelihood that accidents will happen.

It is also not a matter of speeding or following speed limits - it is a matter of VISIBILITY. We are not saying that people speed, we are saying WE CANNOT SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN WE LEAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.

Howard County does not install curved mirrors within the right-of-way due to safety and liability reasons as listed below.

• Focus of the driver away from the on-coming traffic
• Difficulty judging speed of an approaching vehicle by looking at the image on the mirror
• Mirrors have to be aligned exactly to be able to work for the position of the driver on the private driveway
• Maintenance of the mirror as these are prone to vandalism and also during inclement weather

Some residents have installed these outside the County right-of-way by working with property owners across from them

This is typical bureaucracy speak... there is nothing the county can do because blah, blah, blah... if someone important lived on Florey Rd, the problem would be addressed, but otherwise... blah, blah, blah, excuse, excuse, excuse.

Double your insurance coverage. Cross your fingers and hope a speeder doesn't hit you, because all the liability is on you dear citizens.

When will this safety concern finally be addressed by Howard County?

This issue has NOT been addressed, because there is still a blind curve and there is absolutely going to be an accident here eventually.

I wonder what it's going to take for Howard County Works/Highway department to implement common sense solutions like speed bumps along Hanover Rd,
That road was constructed without safety concerns and needs to be properly remediated. SMH.
