The water is a result of a resident overwatering their lawn on a daily basis. The pooling is a result of a disruption of the curb and asphalt that was displaced by a recently removed Sissoo tree that prevents the water from continuing towards the drain. The "pothole" that has been filled twice now was more than likely a result of the Sissoo tree's roots seeking water and was removed due to Town of Gilbert refusing to repair street until the tree was removed.
So here we are 1 month later and nothing’s been done. That water is NOT coming from a residence. The ground between the property and the street is dry. If it’s the resident or common landsaping, contact them or the Val Vista Place HOA. If not, send a hydrologist out to root cause the problem. AZ needs all the water it can get. Four months of leaking water is unacceptable.
Thank you for your patience while we investigated this issue. The area has been visited several times by our staff over the last few weeks in hopes of finding the source of the pooling water. I visited the area of concern this morning around 7AM and the area was significantly drier than during past visits. I spoke with several residents who were walking in the area and they informed me the water is coming from a home up the street that overwaters their front yard around 6:30AM & 6:30PM. The resident has been made aware of the issue and is working on adjusting their watering schedule to reduce the water runoff that is collecting in the street. If the issue continues to occur as severely as before please let us know. Thank you!
