Actually, it does serve a purpose. There is no access to the businesses on the westbound lane of Ayd Mill Road just before Selby. Next time you drive by take a look and you will see. The only way to access those couple of businesses set back there is to go south on Ayd Mill, then use the turn that is there (where north bound has the stop sign you mention and want removed) to make a u-turn to get back to those businesses. Yes, it's goofy, but so is Ayd Mill Road goofy.It has a long history of only half being what it was supposed to be and messing things up royally at Selby and Snelling. Also, the stop sign is a bit of traffic calming before those businesses so people don't come screaming up to them and the yield/stop at Selby. BTW, I had the same thought and question for quite a while until it was explained to me about a year ago. Most people think the same thing until it's explained to them.
