Last year I "fell flat on my face" over the chunks of concrete that were loose at this address, My mother has stumbled and skinned both knees over the missing pieces of concrete and the hills that the tree roots have pushed up. We have reported this twice to the city only to have a quick black asphalt patch put in, only to have the hills of tree roots get higher and more dangerous. No more black asphalt patches, we need this repaired now!!! This is truly a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Thank you for taking the time to send in a see click fix regarding the sidewalk displacement at 1559 Pacific Ave. Yesterday I had staff go by the address, pull the loose concrete out and add in perma-patch to temporary repair the area and make safe for pedestrians. At some point crews will be going back to the site to remove and replace the sections of sidewalk that are on the master sidewalk replacement list with a permanent repair.

Dear Public Works Supervisor,

I would like to complement you on the fast response to the complaint, but I believe you need to be aware that the young man you sent out spent 10 minutes spreading perma-patch over some of the holes, without compressing any of it. Therefore, its spreading all over the place. Also, there are still holes that have been left unfilled. At this current time it is still dangerous to the pedestrians who walk over it.

Please, please finish this job. If you look back on your records, this is the third time in three years that you have sent a quick fix person to this site. Please put us on your schedule of sidewalk repairs and let us be done with this! Thank You.

Cold Patch is not going to resolve this issue!! To reiterate Laurie's comment, the cold patch is all over the place. While on a walk last night I step right in the patch. It is now on my shoes and the oil is on my carpet. What can I do to remove it from my carpet????? You note "At some point crews will be going back to repair the sidewalk" When is that point?? There are many families with young children that walk on this section of sidewalk; often the children are on their scoters or on small bikes. I will be very unfortunate if a child is injured because the city did not take appropriate action to properly repair a sidewalk. Please make this repair a priority.

I live next door to this ugly sidewalk area. It is so wrong that the city has come to "repair" this stretch of sidewalk with patches of anything. This whole section of sidewalk needs to be removed completely and replaced with fresh concrete. My son fell off of his scooter going down the sidewalk. His front wheel hit this disastrously uneven area and he went down hard. Time and again I see effort and energy put into replacing other sidewalk areas - All up and down Paru Street sidewalks were replaced for a week straight just recently. Not one of those areas was half as treacherous as it is at 1559 Pacific Ave. Why are we being left to fend for ourselves?

The temporary patch seems to be loose asphalt of some type that adhered to my shoes and my dogs feet. The location is still a trip hazard now with added mess. You say this is a temporary fix. When can we expect a permanent fix?

I live immediately next door to this sidewalk mess and it is not only very dangerous, but entirely embarrassing for our otherwise well kept City to let this section of sidewalk go so un-repaired. I have called the City three times. Please do not place any more cold patch AC, particularly the uncompacted loose pile left earlier this week (someone should be fired). Yes it has also tracked all over inside our house. The entire sidewalk in front of our house now has loose asphalt covered pebbles that stick to the bottom of your shoes like gum. For the many times the City has come out and put band aids on this section of sidewalk, it could have already been repaired properly. If the City would buy the concrete, I would actually be willing to supply the labor to do this right. It's that frustrating.

PW Supervisor, Can you please provide an update on this issue. Yesterday I watched a little girl on a bike with trainning wheels fall off her bike due to the condtion of this sidewalk. The girl caught herself as she was falling so she wasn't hurt, but if she hadn't it would have been very sad.
The neighborhood is willing to do the work if the city pays for materials. Please do the right thing and take action.

Another little guy just took header over his trike in from of my house. Really, you guys, how bad does it have to get before this is repaired. I'm really worried someone is going to seriously injure themselves, and you were aware of this the entire time, Many years ago my mother suffered a cerebral aneurysm stumbling over broken uneven pavement in Alameda. I truly know how serious this can become. Please properly repair this sidewalk before something truly tragic occurs.

Looks like this sidewalk is getting fixed today. Yay!! HOWEVER, about 4 meters down from this section of really badly torn-up sidewalk is a not-quite-torn-up section that is still a serious tripping hazard. The concrete has lifted so much so that it's about 5 inches higher. That section is not being fixed. One of the workers said that they have not been authorized to work on that. Seriously??!! It's in front of the house next door. It will probably take another couple of extra hours of work. But the equipment and materials are already there. The workers are already there and they don't even have to move their truck. They just need to walk 4 meters down. So why did public works not address that too? How silly. Sheesh, talk about efficiency. Or lack thereof.
