The NHPD is using reports on this line to determine where to initiate traffic calming measures. Enough calls about Willow/Anderson, and they should start covering that area better.

maybe one of the digital speed signs, like the one on State St., (in front of St. Stanislaus) might remind drivers to slow down? Also there is the issue of heavy truck traffic - the "NO THRU TRUCKS" sign, at the end of the I91 exit ramp, has been missing for years. Willow St. was not designed (fortunately - don't give the DOT any ideas) to handle 18 wheelers and, dump trucks laden with tons of debris.

I've discussed the Willow/Anderson intersection with the City of New Haven numerous times. Traffic, Parking and Transportation plans to look more closely at the pedestrian crosswalk in front of Archie Moore's and how to slow traffic down and make the street safer for pedestrians. The road may be too narrow to install an in-street pedestrian crosswalk sign, but there are other options to deal with the serious problem of speeding on Willow. I'll keep you informed.
