I've just traveled through the intersection at 6:30pm on 2/28/23 and can confirm it is still there, please do NOT close this request.

These are "droppings" from the equipment used to resurface the side roads last summer. In addition to the reported area (as seen in the photo), there are additional piles all along Old Annapolis Rd. Maybe the contractor should be called back to clean up after themselves?

As a motorcyclist, this is extremely unsafe, and with Spring having just started, more and more motorcyclists will be out riding. It needs to be fixed sooner rather than later, it's been there for 3 months already.

Still no change, the excessive mess is still at the intersection, and on Old Annapolis, as the other commenter indicated.

Howard County has a history of ignoring complaints in this neighborhood. It took years for the delaminated patch at the same intersection to get fixed. Turns out they were looking at the Rt. 108 and Columbia Rd intersection, apparently they hadn't updated their maps for years after the interchange at Rt. 29 went in. It would help if we could get more motorists following this concern and submitting updates monthly.

Yeah, still there, still a hazard, still not one response since reported.

As I noted earlier, Howard County ignores complaints from this neighborhood. Perhaps if we keep bumping this post monthly (even weekly?) it will eventually get their attention?

Several years ago the asphalt was de-laminating within 10 yards of this spill. It took over two years to get a response, and even then the responder was looking in the wrong location. You may want to call your County Council rep and fill them in on the lack of response.

All, Thank you for your patience. This is a controlled intersection, meaning traffic lights. The maximum speed limit is 30mph on Old Annapolis Road. The only part of the pavement affected is the turn lane. I will be consulting with our pavement team to see what we can do for the turn lane.

You are correct that this is in the turn lane. However, with just a little observation, it will become apparent that the majority of the traffic heading eastbound on Old Annapolis Rd. uses the turn lane, not the other lane.

As Mark staTed, the majority of traffic, including MOTORCYCLES AND BICYCLES, use this lane, when it's wet, people, not just bikers of both sorts, but also car and truck drivers, could easily end up injured or worse. It shouldn't matter that this is "only" the turn lane, it's NOT SAFE.

Dear Users, I believe you are under the wrong impression that I am understating the problem. The SeeClickFix module is used to transmit information from one County entity to another. The statement about it only being the turn lane, was so that our pavement section understood, it was just the turn lane affected. No other work outside of that was being requested. I hope that clarifies the matter.

So Jim Barker has successfully passed this issue on to Seifu. Since there has been no activity for another month, it looks like our patience meters need to be reset too. Stock up on the milk, bread, and toilet paper - it's going to be a looooooooong wait.

Dear User, for a little more clarity, Mr. Seifu is our paving manager, who oversees asphalt contractors who pave roads for the County. The buck was passed to him, to see if we could expedite repairs.

Jim, thank you for the clarification. I can't speak for Mark, but this has been like this for A YEAR now, so to ask us to just be patient, isn't exactly the response I'd hoped for.

Jim, I appreciate that you are trying to get this resolved. But as Sue says, it's been like this for well over a year and was originally reported on this website over ten months ago. It took over two years to get the travel lane in the exact same location repaired a few years back, so you'll have to understand why we feel frustrated about the lack of progress. Expediting at this stage seems rather ironic.

Currently we are working with a contractor to repave/cleanup the uneven pavement surface near the intersection.
