As I recall, a block of the west side of MacArthur where the sidewalk is missing was included in a list of projects that was bid last summer. Was the package which included this one ever awarded? If so, what i the schedule for doing the work?
This is the street one block east of Holton. The school is on Monticello, which BTW lacks sidewalks on the 1/2 block north of the first cross street north of the school. I never understood why they did all that work on Mount Vernon a few years back when Monticello gets a lot more ped. traffic.
Then why does the request state in front of Holton? no one knows why the city does what they do, I have lived here for over 30 years and still don't understand it. There are numerous streets in Bellevue that do not have sidewalks, it has been this way for years. Anyway, most people in this neighborhood walk in the street for some reason. The south end of my street has never had sidewalks, probably never will. The city has more important items to spend money on- infrastructure, street paving and repairs, the list goes on and on.
Wow, Taz. Thanks for the rant.
I would think the safety of the kids walking to/from the school (which, incidentally, should thrive to help keep your home values up) would be an interest to more folks in the neighborhood.
No rant, just facts. And the kids have been walking to the school safely for over ten years without the sidewalks you are speaking of. I would personally be more concerned by the speeding drivers that scream through Bellevue, some of them parents themselves. If there was a safety issue regarding the student and sidewalks I am sure we would have heard about this long ago. I am not saying I am against safety for the kids, I am all for it.Home values in Bellevue have been pretty good over the years I have lived here.
Well, great, Taz. Thanks for your opinions on my concerns to the City. Feel free to duck on out and let the City get involved. I didn't ask for your opinions.
This is still America is it not? I have just as much right to voice my opinion as anyone, be it favorable or not. Good luck with your quest for sidewalks.
Great! Take your voice as far as it'll take you.
In the meanwhile, this is my opportunity to ask my City if anything can be done. So… that means the question is for them to answer. Thanks for agreeing to head elsewhere.

Oops - I had MacArthur on the brain in my earlier comment...my bad, I see that the original ticket was in fact for Monticello.
I agree with Sonja - they should prioritize the walks near schools, libraries and other public buildings.
