I cannot get my bins any closer to the curb than they are because of the snow. I called out to the garbageman to ask if he was going to pick up my trash, and he said I had to ask the driver, who promptly sped off. Unacceptable.

I'm sure that the poor garbage collectors a fed up with the snow by now but this raises a good point.
Where would they like us to put the cans on collection day? I have been dragging them to the top of the four foot high mountain of snow that is in front of my house but I don't know if this is the best place to put them. the street would probably not be a good place to put them because they would block traffic on already narrowed streets and if we put them on the sidewalk they will probably get missed. In the past I have tried to clear a spot on the sidewalk near the curb for the trash cans but the way that public works has piled up the snow this season has made this impossible if you don't have heavy equipment to get through the block of icy snow they have piled up.
Does public works have an answer for this? I want to help make the trash collectors job easier and make sure that the trash gets picked up.
