I think a lot more people would participate if they knew about these things. I put in a request to add my name to the list but prior to this, I had no knowledge that there even was a list.

So, for those of us who did not attend the meeting, what was the outcome. Was there any important information provided? Do we have a contact with the construction company or the state or whoever is representing this project? Was anybody taking notes at the meeting?

The Block Watch tried on a few occasions to schedule a tour of the site, but there was no response to the contacts at the project.

Will this fix the problem? Probably not but I hope it gives you some more contacts. The more awareness there is of what neighbors are going through, the better, and perhaps there are alternative construction schedules or equipment that could reduce the noise.

in case you all haven't noticed- blockwatches and management teams seem like secret societys then everyone cries why weren't you at the meeting- i requested over 6 times to be notified of ANY MEETING concerning blockwatch or management team meetings. I have NEVER received a notice. I finally kept pestering the police supervisor for my area until i was notified verbally of a maybe meeting.

Cosrtruction is exempt from any ordinance created, the politicians will listen, but not react or do anything, barring MINOR steps to apese the masses. Move until its over or just leave altogether is your only hope. You can't fight city hall if they wont listen.

To "Whatever": if by "secret society" you mean "the first thing that comes up when you use google" then you are correct about the block watch and management team. I would urge anyone to subscribe to the Downtown Wooster Square Community Management Team google group at http://groups.google.com/group/dwscmt and to notify the list about your concerns when appropriate.

The people from the ConnDOT have generally been responsive when concerns have been raised with them. But perhaps we can bring this up at the next CMT meeting and try to get it resolved.

When is the next meeting? The Wooster Square watch site says that it's August 10, 2011 but I suspect that might not be accurate.

There is virtually no info on the I95info site.

The minutes from the August blockwatch meeting say that "Wooster Square is in a restricted zone that requires contractors to use noise impact equipment to reduce vibration created by the work".
If this is the case, the contractors are clearly in violation. What can we do about this? Who regulates this?

Just to follow up on this thread - I reached out to DOT to let them know about the mini-tremors caused by all the construction in Wooster Square & I-95 and a representative got back to me. They want to organize a meeting next week among local residents to gather complaints but also to give out more information and see what can be done in terms of minimizing the disturbances. If you don't hear back, definitely contact DOT (she even suggested dropping by their offices at the corner of Hamilton and Chapel). But more than likely the notice of the meeting will go out via email, so yes, you will actually have to open the email and scroll down to get info on where/when it will be held.

At the Downtown Wooster Square Community Management Team on Tuesday May 15 at 6 pm at City Hall, there will be a representative from the City and from Connecticut DOT to discuss issues surrounding construction in the Wooster Square area.

Deputy Economic Development Administrator City of New Haven will discuss the construction of I-95 and how it will impact Wooster Square over the next year or so.

We are confirmed for May 15, Downtown/Wooster Sq. management team at 6:00. DOT will be sending a representative or two to go over the forecast construction work on the Q-Bridge project which as you know ties into I-91. This includes some remaining Amtrak tree clearing on the right-of-way. My understanding from LCI is that it is not extensive but needs to be shared with you the team as it is night-work which can be loud and unsettling without advance notice. Linda Davis will be the city's point of contact 203-946-7888, but I will stop by as well. We can touch on other updates re: Downtown Crossing, the new parking meter times to fill the agenda if you need anything.

I hope to see new faces at our next meeting. The meetings last one hour. Cheese and crackers will be served.

Still shaking but not as severely. Bridge construction on Chapel is still going on all times of the day and night. Night time demolition was terrible with the workers dropping debris into a giant dumptruck from the bridge above. I will leave this open for now.
