On this peaceful Thursday morning, we were once again awoken by the honking of the first trash truck at 6:15 am. Ten minutes later and still no signs of anyone coming out to move their cars. Finally the truck just gave up honking and backed up all the way out the alley. It drove around the block and came in the other end so it could finish picking up the cans. Please up the code enforcement of the alleys.

We have a similar problem - the CPD says our alley is privately owned and the CPD can't do anything about it - only the individual residents can have a tow company come out and we have to prove that we have the authority (how can anyone prove ownership of an alley??), So then you call the tow company and they state sorry, this is an alley, you need to call CPD. No one gets a ticket in our alley - this morning was trash day for us also...the trash truck was in the alley for over 45 minutes trying to dump all the trash - honking and waiting and waiting for cars to move. This happens every week. It is ridiculous that there isn't enough parking for the residents in our area - but when you allow more than 2 adults to move in per apartment you get this kind of problem. In the building across from me there are 4 apartments - there are more than 12 adults and about 8 or 9 kids living in 4 apartments. Seriously. This is also a zoning thing with how many people are allowed to live in a dwelling per bedroom that overflows into how many cars they have - there is 1 parking space per apartment - what about the other 8 adults' cars? Where do you think they park? The street - and there are already cars there from the overflow of all the other apartment buildings on this street doing the same thing so they park illegally in the alley to the detriment of everyone else. I'm exhausted from this stuff. The cart vendors, merchandise trucks, parking in front of your space, blocking trash cans, can't bring your stuff in from car because someone has blocked most of the sidewalk with their van....it's enough to drive anyone crazy!

How do we know if our alley is public or private? I don't have a problem with people parking there but I'd like to know.

We give up... Lost faith in these city officials and neighbors.
