Can't wait until the project at 96 - 110 Tonnele Avenue is done. The entrance will be on tiny Van Reipen Avenue along with a massive garage roll up door which leads to the 10 parking spots and garbage compactor. Only place for any type of garbage containers will be in front of the roll up garage door. Unless the city "gifted" the developer the 3 parking spots in front of their building entrance on tiny Van Reipen. I hope not.

There are no permits for dumpsters and they are required to have trash pick up inside their building, not outside.

I am not sure who this should be assigned to or what the conversations have been.

Code Compliance goes to the site within 24 hours of the request being opened and merely do an investigation of the current situation. This is how their office is set up and it works extremely well. They cannot issue a ticket if the condition no longer exists.

Someone needs to make sure management only has pick up within their building.

Does anyone have any documentation they can link to, that states garbage pick up must take place within the building?

Hi Althea, 25 senate place recently had to take down an illegal, homemade no parking sign and remove their illegal, homemade yellow curb. They painted the curb gray however, now they are placing cones in front of the painted gray curb whenever they want this could be either for their shuttle bus or to reserve these parking spaces on the street for their dumpsters Tuesday Friday and Sunday. Essentially they are continuing to use this area as if it belongs to them when the city has let them know it does not. Perhaps this issue was being ignored because it was being entered into SeeClickFix as an issue with trash. If there is a better department to discuss this with please let us know I believe last time Daniela handled it. Thank you!

Municipal Code § 287-28 (“Duties of building owners and lessees”) states that “receptacles shall be kept within the building or in the rear of the premises until the time for the removal of the substances, when the receptacles shall be placed on the sidewalk close to the curb.” That sub-section further states that “[f]or any building with more than ten (10) units using trash services provided by the city, no receptacles shall be placed on the sidewalk close to the curb before the hour of 10:00 p.m. of the day prior to the scheduled for removal by the designated agency.” For private pickup, “receptacles shall be placed on the sidewalk close to the curb more than two (2) hours before pick-up time.” Finally, “immediately after which the reusable receptacles shall be returned to the building or to the rear of the premises where the reusable receptacles shall be kept, at all times, covered with, a tight-fitting cover.”

I got no response from anyone, so I will need to reroute this to the RRC and they know who to assign it to in Sanitation.

Code enforcement Dave Fortunato talked to this address prior about not placing them in the street. I think it’s time to issue a summons so they get the hint to stop this activity

Good afternoon, they do not have permission to put dumpsters in street unless Traffic and engineering issued permits which i doubt because they would need them every time they put garbage out. This complaint has to be redirected to code enforcement. An inspector has to go and talk to management and advise them to keep the dumpsters in driveway until truck gets there to empty them.

Thank you all. Unfortunately compliance has closed this issue almost a dozen times without remedying the situation. I am hopefully this will be taken seriously this time.
