I believe the shrubs at 1516 Adeline are encroaching into the sidewalk area. The shrubs at 1512 Adeline appear to be okay. I will contact the owner at 1516 Adeline for trimming the shrubs.

The shrubs were trimmed on August 27, 2015.

This morning (Sep 9), the large shrub in the house on the NE corner of Adeline/Balboa had not been trimmed and was still encroaching >6 inches onto the sidewalk. That's not extreme, but the sidewalk is very narrow and gets very busy during the school commute, causing people to have to walk on the road.

The property owner mentioned that his gardener is at the site on Thursdays. He will instruct his gardener to trim the shrubs.

Please re-open this issue until corrected. As of today (Sep 17), the hedge has not been trimmed.

We will reach out to the property owner again regarding the shrubs. This item will remain open until the issue has been resolved.

This narrow sidewalk that a lot of Lincoln school kids and parents use needs a lot of work. But there are some simple things that can be done now to alleviate the problem. There's the mailbox that sits where the pathway narrows that should be relocated. And there's a planting strip by Adeline Market that's sunken in dirt that's not usable for walking and can be filled in. I'll file a report for each separately. We can do this!

This hedge is still blocking the sidewalk, causing safety problems every morning (many people walk out on the street to avoid). The owner is blocking public property, has apparently been told twice to fix it, and seems to get away with completely ignoring the legitimate authority of the people. Can the city cut down the portions of the hedge intruding on the sidewalk and send the bill to the owner, or take them to court? This has been going on for months, do we need to wait for an accident to get any resolution?

The website is now reminding me that this issue is open for 61 days and not resolved, wants to know if it is still open. Definitely so! I'm perplexed that there is no response to this, city is much more aggressive in going after other code violations.

The property owner's gardener trimmed the hedges yesterday afternoon. He agreed to monitor the situation and trim as necessary.

Twice before, the city has asked the owner to trim the hedge, and he tells them that he will or has done so. City closes this issue. But he never cuts the hedge. Now a third time, he promises, City doesn't bother to check and closes the issue. But guess what - the hedge is still there, not a leaf out of shape (photo taken this morning). This is getting ridiculous, the city is being made a fool of, and it's still a dangerous sidewalk that is forcing kids out onto the road.

3 months since this was reported, 3 requests from the city to the owner, city blown off or lied to three times by the owner, and still no action. I'm losing trust in both the city and this program.

I verified the trimming of hedges by the property owner's gardener before closing the case. The trimming may not meet your expectations. After the latest trimming, the owner is concerned with potential loss of hedges. I spoke with the property owner and he agreed to meet and discuss his concerns and your expectations. Please provide some dates and times for this meeting so that we can resolve and close this case. The owner is available between 11AM and noon and 3:30 PM to 5PM.
