Myself & others have been calling, writing, for 10 years! Literally! When will this entryway into our neighborhood be addressed? 1838 is now uninhabitable & there is no excuse as we as a neighborhood have done due diligence. No one has even lived there for years & when we used to complain the owner used diversionary tactics to quieten codes officers. This is clear abdication of resp by owner & City! ENOUGH!

The last update on 1838 24th Ave N in the links provided above dates back to January 2016, which is 9 month ago now. There has been an active demo case, and a demo notice on the house. Is any action being taken? When is this neighborhood blight going to be put down for good?

This owner comes & cuts the grass occasionally. He comes in a luxury vehicle & as he has done for 10 years uses diversionary tactics & shows no respect for codes or neighbors. Called the city today. Here is the latest:
1) owner had a court hearing on 10/12 i believe. He appealed the demo decision and said he is going to restore the place.

2) The city gave him 30 days to present documentation showing he has taken drastic measures to restore the property. If he fails to do so, they will proceed with the demo.

3) If he presents satisfying documents, he will be put on a strict timeline to finish the repairs.

Given that the owner has not hired a single person so far to do the work, and he only shows up on weekends to trim the trees by hand, i think this thing is coming down sooner or later. The question is when?
I urge the neighbors to keep following up on this.

This man and the city have been delaying issues & disregarding codes for decades. What abt the 2 inoperable vehicles, one on each property, the unpermitted oversized trailer, the storage of construction materials, the total disregard for the appearance of the community? What about the other miriad of code violations on these 2 properties? I urge the city, do NOT give him the benefit of the doubt, he obviously has no regard for rules. His garage is not even closed off but the view is blocked by standing closet doors? You need to enter this property. There are many violations other than just the bldg. He is messing with you! Do we need to call Behkin?

Hello, I am writing AGAIN this time we are living with a collapsing, dangerous, condemned structure at this address! Other properties in the neighborhood have been torn down in 1 day by private parties, yet our city government can't manage to come and resolve this long standing issue! When will this building be removed and the property restored to some semblance of a decent residential property? It is worse now than ever, eaves falling off of the building etc. You are derelict in your duties! Please take care of this issue!

I called the city today. Maureen Burke is the person assigned to this demo case. She was rude but gave me some useful information.

The owner submitted permits and architectural plans to revive the building and include a major addition. There were errors in the submitted paperwork so they are waiting for him to correct it.
The deadline to finish all the rehab and construction work is August 2017.

Maureen is completely unaware of this website or this thread. Please keep calling her at 727-893-7373

This is appalling. I am fed up & going to the news. To allow this owner at this point after condemnation & blatant fraud, to submit a plan for remodel? Its time for the news to broadcast this dereliction of duty by owner & City officials. Enough. I am calling everyone in tv that i can think of. Enough. Somebody's palm is being greased here!

Also, the owner have filed for homestead exemption on 1828 24th ave n (the vacant building next door)! So there is also fraud involved here.

I agree that it seems someone is not doing their job at the city. When I called them and mentioned this thread, Maureen said she doesnt know anything about it.

I recently saw the homeowner at the house and cleaning up the backyard. That was a couple weeks ago. He was putting cinder blocks in a couple of the dumpsters in the alley.
