I totally agree with you! And you sound like an educated person that is an asset to the community, and we really don't want you to get mugged! Thank you for articulating the issue so well.

The stretch of road on Church St. has been horribly neglected between So. Frontage and the area around the Green, and you're right about it being the gateway,, for which the college is named. This is the stretch between the train station and the historical Green, and Yale. For the last couple of years, however,, the City government, under Mayor Toni Harp, has let it fall into disrepair and a center for vagrants and drug dealers.

I apologize for this, and am ashamed to say I am a citizen and that this represents me and my city.

You are probably more able than I to lead a movement to address the issues.. One is that there is a law about drug free zones around schools, which is not being applied, and the other is the neglect of the condition of the environment generally, for our own citizens, students that come from out of town, Yale students and professionals, and our citizenry.

I suggest that you call the City Hall and find out when the next town meeting is, bring some friends and get it on the agenda. Can you do that? Announce it right here so that we can pariticipate . The issue of dim bulbs applies to more than the lamps adjacent to the building.
