We would also like to request again that this signal be programmed to interrupt the cycle when the ped button us pushed to be truly pedestrian-activated. Wait times for the walk signal can otherwise be close to 2 minutes, which is an unreasonable amount of time to wait to safely cross the street.

Signal crew responded and verified proper intersection operation IAW traffic plan. An additional all red time was added at the end of the pedestrian movement in question. Unfortunatley due to the number of movements at this intersection; which, includes Whalley & West Rock, Tour and Fountain the wait can not be shorted.

Thank you, TT&P. However, I am reopening and would like to request that the crossing time be extended from the current 12 seconds to 15 seconds. The three additional seconds wait time for cars is insignificant, but for pedestrians who often do not notice right away that the signal has changed - understandable after waiting 90 seconds or longer at times - the extra three seconds represent a much-needed added degree of safety here. While the current crossing time of 3ft/second (for the 36'-wide street) should be adequate for seniors, small children (a nursery school is 1/2 block away) and other less ambulatory individuals, my regular observation of people's crossing experience here is that more time is needed.
