This is next to the building that was structurally unsound and was demolished by the City. The area is fenced off and unusable for the time being. The CTtransit bus stops have been temporarily relocated in front of Starbucks.

Where is Starbucks?

Starbucks is at church and chapel. Wouldn't State and Chapel be a better solution? Is anyone at CTTRANSIT paying attention at all???

There is a stop at State & Chapel.
The stop at Chapel & Church is not valid since construction ceased on Chapel across from the bus stop.

There is already another bus stop at State and Chapel, but the buses can't make the left turn from there onto State St. and must continue straight on through Chapel, right? So , more buses can stop at the Orange and Chapel, or Chapel and Church and then make the lane changes necessary for the left turn.

CTtransit borads more than 1700 passengers at the Chapel & Orange bus stop. Relocating all those passengers to State & Chapel wouldn't work from an operational standpoint.

I believe construction is going to start in that area soon, don't quote me on it though.

Although I did not enjoy the urinating drunks & cigarette/movie/dealers etc that made the place loud & obnoxious while waiting for a bus ..seating is nice.
There are no seats in the shelters there.

Outstanding! we understand that effective immediately the fences have been removed, the bus shelter is being cleaned up, and once CTtransit is confident the bus stop has reopened we will return to serving the regular stop on Chapel at Orange.

The buses have been picking up passengers at Chapel & Orange for quite awhile ..since Dec 20 when the construction across the street ended. Where are you getting your info?

Sorry - perhaps I described it with too much enthusiasm - the fences have been pushed back to allow for clean up and use of the stop, while still keeping pedestrians from the construction zone.

Yes. I was rooting for moving the fence further back to restore the full size bus stop with seating ;}

We of course would root for that too, but will work with this for now.

I contend that it would be very little work to move the perimeter of the fence back just enough to encompass the existing benches.

This is coming from a construction project manager.

It has been 2 months since I reported this.
The property where the bus stop waiting area & benches are is easy to restore to use ..

You must know that they are not going to do it in winter time, so you will have to wait another 2 months.

Status is unchanged for 3yrs now.
Installing benches in the 2 existing shelters would make a lot of weary people grateful.

I am aware that the vacant lot at Chapel &Orange is not your property and is fenced off.
Could you please address the lack of bench seating in the 2 existing shelters?
