I have lobbied the state to legalize pot, even testified to a hostile Republican state Senator, who was later reprimanded to having ties to the Mafia - so a lot of good that did! I can understand you viewing the activity as undesirable; however, drug prohibition is the root of the problem, so the "drug" problem just gets pushed around from neighborhood to neighborhood, rather than being contained and monitored in a more acceptable location.

It'd certainly be an interesting experiment to see what would happen if New Haven was the first US city to legalize pot. I wonder what that would mean for it's reputation and future. We'd get a lot more tourism and maybe some more attractive street cafes!
