It looks like something has changed, but not correctly. Now when you press the walk button, the stoplight facing east stays red, but the pedestrian signal changes to walk. The problematic stop light, facing west, still changes to green the SAME TIME the walk signal is given. Cars turn left, without looking, and end up right in the path of crossing pedestrians going east. I have attached an illustration of the problem, perhaps that will make it more clear.

Thank you for sharing this concern. The hot dog vendor across the street told me he sees people almost getting hit on a daily basis! The community really needs a 5-10 second advance pedestrian signal on the west side of the street so that the cars can see them by the time their light turns green.
