  I agree that this is a problem. I believe a quick fix is to allow cars to turn right onto route 9 (right on red) by removing the "No turn on red" sign at the corner of main st. and route 9. At least 10 cars could merge onto route 9 with no risk since all the other cars are stopped at the next red light intersection (it is always timed that way everytime). The other issue is that the left hand turning lane onto prospect st/rt 9 westbound u-turn at this intersection gets too backed up, limiting the amount of cars able to flow onto route 9 from main st intersection at the very short green light.
