No Tom Fitzsimmons hasn't contacted me because my house 209 West Kingsley Street is at the corner of his development. But the pipe contractors that are digging the ravine are using the property next door, 213 West Kingsley St., to access the north and north east corner of the development on N. First St. So next door to me heavy Caterpillar earth digging equipment is scooping out a 20 foot ravine, and is transferring heavy piping. My garage footings are 2 feet from this ravine. A construction worker said to me the soil underneath the footings to my garage is clay and stone so therefore I shouldn’t worry.
However any excavation has to be supported so no adjoining property buildings are damaged according to real estate attorney Joseph Lloyd. So I thought the 20 foot deep ravine should be propped up with a wood support system or something, to prevent structures, like my garage, from shifting and falling down. But I'm not really familiar with this. Basically, the building department gave me the impression that they are overworked, so unless there's an actual problem I really shouldn't contact them. But I'd like to prevent a problem.

You should contact them by phone and in writing asap.

Your concerns have been forwarded onto the building department, city staff will stop by today to inspect the site.

I want to express my gratitude to James from the Building Department who took a look at the footings of my garage that abut 2 feet from the excavation of the 410 N. First Street mega condo development. James gave me confidence that the footings will not be affected by the excavation. We talked also to some of the construction people there, and once the excavation has all the giant steel tubular stormwater retention tanks in place, and the cement walls to the building are water proofed, the excavation will be filled in with a pebble rock. This pebble rock infill will act as a buffer to prevent any of my garage footings/cement pilings from shifting/moving. James told me to check for any changes to my garage door opening and closing.
