Thank you for using SeeClickFix! The primary responsibility of the illegal dumping crews is to keep the streets, sidewalks, and alleyways free of large debris to allow for foot, vehicle, emergency response, and wheelchair access. While still a nuisance, the issues that we receive reporting such things as plastic bags and to-go containers in bushes, cigarette butts, and animal waste on the sidewalk unfortunately do not fall under this category.
Between January and November 2015 the dumping crew have removed over 200,000 tons of illegally dumped waste. With dumping of this magnitude, we appreciate your understanding in why it would be complicated and time consuming to respond to smaller littering issues.
We are working with several departments and volunteer groups to come up with a solution to this growing issue. Groups interested in picking up litter in their neighborhood may be eligible for free trash bags. Please contact derek.crutchfield@cityofvallejo.net for more information about trash bags for neighborhood cleanup.
