Description
Please paint a cross walk at the north side of the intersection of 65th and Shattuck. This intersection lacks a crosswalk on the northside - there is only one, despite being a major pedestrian route to Ashby BART station, with residents east of Shattuck crossing here to walk north / west to Ashby BART. Please paint a crosswalk at both corners of this crosswalk to make it safer for pedestrians and easier to get to BART. Forcing pedestrians to walk south to cross when they are travelling to north leads to jaywalking. An additional crosswalk would hopefully help slow traffic as well on this roadway that is heavily used by peds and bikes.

Thanks for reporting this issue, and I agree that more painted crosswalks are needed along Shattuck Ave. Oakland has an internal standard called their "crosswalk decision matrix" that they use to decide which locations away from stop signs or signals should get what upgrades. You can find this document online by searching Google for "Oakland crosswalk decision matrix".
Also please note that every leg of an intersection is a legal pedestrian crosswalk, regardless of whether or not it is painted. By California law, it is only illegal for a pedestrian to cross a street mid-block (aka "jaywalking") if both of the nearest intersections are controlled by a traffic signal. This is not the case at any location on Shattuck Ave in Oakland.

Please put those flashing lights that cars can see from a distance, when someone steps out to cross the street. There are some in front of the east side of the BART station on Adeline. They work!!!
Also, nobody "sees" or notices the KEEP CLEAR painted on the intersection at Shattuck and 65th.
