UI is pruning and taking down trees near power lines

I realize that because of our changing climate we are experiencing more hurricane weather. And I respect CFPA's report on forest and roadside management of trees in CT. But I am still concerned that too many healthy trees will be removed, out of sheer panic over future storms. I was recently walking your area and I always make a point to notice the removal signs. The one tree I saw tagged was basically cradling power lines, so I understand the need for its removal. But going with the City's drastically reduced tree program (replacement-only), as well as CFPA's invaluable info (appropriate tree for its location), this tree could still be replaced with a "squattier" tree, one that will not interfere with power lines, but could still provide beauty and shade.
