Throughout the city I see plates missing on poles exposing wires. When I do I call public safety because I am concern if someone touches them they can be electrocuted. Can someone from the city tell me if this possible.

"In computing, the term "troll" refers to a person who posts offensive, incendiary, or off topic comments online".
How can you call me troll?
I tell people to call safety issue in because it is the fastest way to get it to someone attention , that is a fact because of the following reasons.
1. Site is not monitor 24/7 by the various city departments.Just look how long it takes for a post to be acknowledged.
2. Site is hardly ever monitor by the city on weekends or after hours.
3. Some city departments do not monitor this site. An example is animal control because they do not have internet access.
I do not hate See Click Fix but it is not to be used to report safety issues such as stop signs down, down electrical wires, natural gas odor, and bricks falling off buildings,. In situations like this you call public safety 203 946-6316. You can then post on See Click Fix to warn others and to have a record that it was called in. In the post mention that it was called in.
In regards to your statement that this is the correct place to report issues this is not true. See Click
will also tell you to report issues like these by phone.
All I asked in my original post is if someone from the city can tell me if these exposed wires can cause someone to be electrocuted. You then took it upon yourself to tell me how to report this and what the city plans were, which were not my question. You then insulted me by calling me a troll.
Josh (Registered User)
You comment on every post and say the same nagative thing. One of my private properties had a leak in the basement and you told the commenter to call the mayors office. That's being a troll not to the reporters but to the platform. As far as the question can people be electrocuted by exposed electrified wires the answer should be obvious particularly if the light is functional.

Josh,
I watched a kid playing with one of the wires the ther day and he was not shocked, but I have the same concern. I talked to Ethan from TT&P and reported it via the app as he encouraged me to do.
My guess is that he would have been shocked had the other lights been on at the time as he was holding an exposed wire. It was daytime and there might not have been power to the part of the pole where the wire harness is depending on where the switch/sensor is.

What you posted was not true, I do not post the same negative thing on every post. Yes, if i is a safety concern I post that it should be phoned in. As far as a leak in your basement the reason why I posted that they call the mayor's office is because they can direct someone on who to call. You do not post a leak in a basement here because by the time something is done there could be flood.
In regards to the exposed wires unless you know for sure it should not left for chance, and you should have never posted what you did, people lives are at stake.
One more thing if you want to criticize me fine but stick to the facts. Also my original post was that someone from the city respond if this is a safety issue. Repeat from the city.

As far as me posting that Public Safety should be called if it is a safety issue this is the message you get on See Click Fix if you try to report potholes
NOTE: Immediate safety concerns ( i.e.cave-ins ) should be called into either the police or DPW at 203-946-7700.
The problem with this is public works is not available 24/7.but as you can see See Click Fix agrees safety issues should be reported by phone.

I get insulted for trying to help you. In one of your post you wrote that I was a troll to the platform because when there was a leak in your basement, to prevent possible expensive damage to your property I took the time and posted that the mayor's office be called so the poster could be directed to the right department.. .
You should educated your tenants problems like this should be reported immediately to you.
Josh, you resorted to name calling by posting I was troll. Name one post when I resorted to name calling?
Josh (Registered User)
I never said you called people names you just try and push people away from seeclickfix.
ill give you another example I had a tenet call me about a property i don't own. They asked if i could help get the fence repaired around they Olympia lot next to subway on state street. I said sure but that the best thing to do would be to report it on seeclickfix so that town green and the city would have a record and get it fixed. Can you guess what you wrote on that post?
There's one yesterday for a noise from a dump truck on Dwight street. you say the same thing call the mayors office. The mayors office is one person behind a desk for scheduling they are not equipped to handle calls like this this what see click fix is for.

Fact not all city departments use this site and the ones that do it is not 24/7. Proof of this is how long it takes the city to respond to the posts.
I don't try tp push people away from See Click Fix when it is used properly. What I do try to do is to educated them.
I did not write that that you accused me of name calling. What I was trying to get across was that unlike your post mine are free of name calling. Fact remains you insulted me by calling me a troll and you then give an example of the time I try to help stop one your properties from suffering water damage
See Click Fix is a tool and like any tool it has to be used properly. You do not use it to report fires which someone once did.
Josh , this whole thing got started when I ask the city to respond to my question concerning a safety issue and you responded for them . I do not think you are a city employee..
Josh (Registered User)
I'm not a city employee but just like you i'm trying to help so here's your answer. Yes electricity is dangerous.
The funny thing is even if it was completely safe only an idiot would say that and open themselves up to liability.

Thank you for your reply. What caused these comments were someone replying to a post in which he had no business because it asked that a city employee to reply and then to top off I get called a troll.

You should also educate your tenants that you should be called if their is a problem with your building and you should take care of the problem. This site which is paid for by tax payer dollars should not be used to help you managed your buildings.

Safety issues like loud garbage trucks?
My tenants do call me directly a non-tenant posted it here. I use see click fix to set up areas around all of my properties in cases there is something I can help with, fix, or just need to know about it's a great resource and it's the reason the feature exists. There is even a classification for personal property issues. Government pay a fee for integration but it's a great resource for land owners as well.

I don't remember you posting anything that may have help this person. Here is another example where I posted something to try to help someone and all you do is criticized me. Another time was when I was concerned if a leak in one of your basement might lead to a flood.
I am glad I don't rent from you and I am sure you are glad you don't rent to me. Maybe I should rent one of your apartments in the future and after the lease is sign I could tell you who I am. That will ready make your day.

I don't mean this in a negative way but why don't you get more involved so that you know the answers to the questions rather then posting call the mayor. At a minimum give them there alders number so the alders can run triage that's what they are there for.

Private haulers are not exempt, if you do a web search titled, New Haven Connecticut Ordnance Private Garbage Haulers, you will see this. I try to copy and paste it but I was unable to. If you do not want to do a search try calling the mayor's office 203 946-8200 and they may be able to help you. I called public works but they were unsure.

OMG alders don't get paid anything!!! they can choose between a cell phone or some paid postage to mail constituents but that's it you have no idea how this city works! That's the job they signed up for.
In any case i was backwards earlier DPW can pick up any time commercial collectors are restricted. here's the ordnance but this is how you answer the question if you want to bother acutely be helpful.
