Description

This has been happening for years now and requires action by the city. Every day now I drive through shockoe there are 3-8 cars blocking the extra lane that is supposed to be open for rush hour. The no parking signs state 4-6 that there is no parking, however when I see cars parked there I rarely notice a famous green parking ticket. Today traffic to church hill and Fulton was atrocious merely because there were a total of 7 cars blocking the extra lane. Please take action, this is a simple fix and easy money for ticketers.

This is so true. I see police cars drive around the parked cars every day.
We are on our way home from work. They are on duty so I guess they don't care.
I saw a police car with the blue lights flashing parked behind a van with the license plates queen on Monday.
Thought he was going to do something but no the van is still parked blocking traffic.
I guess Richmond doesn't need any parking ticket money.

Yes it looks like nothing has been done or will be done.. Why can't the city just tow cars.
That van has been there for two weeks. Has it been reported stolen?

Fingers crossed Sandra...I read this morning that they canned the old Director of Public Works. Maybe they'll hire someone who'll get things done. I'm not too optimistic but one can hope :-)

Good news,any of the offenders have been (I assume) towed today! And all remaining cars clogging the lanes had their green slips!

Yes I did have a straight run to 18th street on Friday. Black van was gone and no parked cars.
Lets hope the lane stays clear next week. Fingers crossed.

This is great news!!! In the past, most of the issues I've seen have lingered unresolved forever. Maybe this is a sign that things are changing in City Hall. I hope they keep it cleared all the way out Main Street including in front of the subsidized housing building across from Poe's which usually has a straggler car or two parked out front in the afternoons.
