Description
This is a dangerous intersection. People turning left in the left of the three lanes are constantly cutting off people in the middle lane who are also turning left onto Edgell road north bound. The left of the three lanes is supposed to turn left onto route 30, but there are lots of people who just try to jam themselves into the Edgell Rd north bound lane. I have nearly been hit many times and I have seen other people have close calls. There needs to be better signage and enforcement to reduce the dangerous situation.

A. Turning left from the route 9 off ramp onto Edgell road north bound is dangerous. There do not seem to be enough signs.
A. Therre seems to be poor planning at this intersection. It might not be intuitive that the left of three lanes coming off the route 9 east off ramp to Edgell road needs to turn left onto route 30.

The next scheduled meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 at 7PM in the Ablondi Room at Town Hall.
Although you are not required to attend the meeting, the Committee does like to hear from the proponent before making decisions.
Taking a quick look at this request, I do understand your concern. However, there are already two signs stating the proper lanes to take when a vehicle approaches this intersection.
If two signs are not being followed, a third sign will in all likelihood not help this matter.
Due to the narrow width of the left island, it may not be possible to place the same type of sign in that location. That sign width is standard and if were placed on the island it would overhang the curbing and be more of a hazard for vehicles traveling in both directions.
A potential solution might be some additional pavement markings. These markings would have to be a ways back from the intersection as there are already standard arrow markings at the immediate intersection.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding,

Hi Adam. Thank you for the response, it is nice to know that these issues are looked at and responded to! I agree that more signage is probably not going to be helpful. I'm pretty sure that most people who do cut over from the left lane are aware of what they are doing and that they are making an improper lane change, usually in an unsafe manner. With that in mind, how do we increase the awareness with the Framingham police department? A more routine and greater degree of enforcement would go a long way I think. Although I am sure the FPD had other more pressing issues. One might think though that with the number of people making the dangerous lane change, the income in traffic tickets might pay for the cost of an officer to be there!
Again, thanks for the reply, it is much appreciated.
