Description
This has been reported several times and nothing has been done. The garbage area at this property is continuously out of control. This image was taken a few hours after garbage collection. It draws rodents and insects to the area, and is a public health hazard. If the tenants are unable to keep the garbage contained, the owner should be fined and should be instructed to build a containment fence around the garbage cans.

While I am grateful that our neighbor took it upon himself to thoroughly clean the space (it looks so much better), it is still important that the property owner come up with a long term solution. As neighbors here have noted, this is a frequent problem and both the residents of the property and residents of Wallace Street deserve a solution. None of us want to live in filth and it is the responsibility of property owners to take care of and clean their properties regularly.
Prior to the recent clean up I spoke with code enforcement, who will contact the owner on behalf of the city. I will continue to be in contact with that office until a more permanent solution can be found. Perhaps a gated or fenced garbage area would deter folks from throwing trash on the ground.
