APA - Doug assigned this issue to APD Traffic Safety Sgt

This has been reported as illegal parking previously and, I believe, is a site being considered to replace one of two community gardens that were lost in the neighborhood.

This lot has also been a popular spot for illegal fireworks in recent years.

This morning, 9/27, no less than 17 cars parked in this lot- at least 2 of them without plates. I keep seeing. I keep clicking. Where's the fixing??

Cars without plates

A lot of residents have tried to address this issue. There was supposed to be a fence put up as this is NOT a legal parking spot and it is getting increasingly worse. Parking Enforcement also is not doing its job, but this is not theonly place that is happening. And cars without plates should be checked and perhaps towed until the owner can be determined as there is usually a reason someone does not want to be identified and this area has enough issues with crime.

Can the traffic safety officer or Parking Enforcement respond about why this is not being addressed. This is public not private property.

Issues that involve Parking Enforcement and Traffic Safety don't seem to receive a response beyond being assigned.The courtesy of at least a reply regarding the issue would be nice, but also doesn't happen. This is part of the parking issues in this area. The lack of action and accountability doesn't motivate people to follow the regulations which effects everyone. Thank you, however, for not giving up. If more area residents chime in perhaps there will finally be action or someone in City government will at least takes notice if someone isn't doing their job.

Meanwhile parking enforcement was patrolling yesterday and giving out tickets to people who were parked on the wrong side of the street LOL

There is a Park South Neighborhood Assoc. Meeting at 7pm tonight, at the Community Room on the corner of Knox. Come speak to area representatives and neighborhood police officers about this since there is no response from the officials via this site.

There is a semi truck parked there now. Apparently for collection of stuff for Africa. No controlling authority. Overwhelming density of vehicles. No curb cuts. No signs. Chaos.

Also, cars driving over the sidewalk to park in this “lot” are damaging the sidewalk. So many of the panels are cracking badly from the misuse. The lot has been “at capacity” lately.

Park South gets ignored by the city in many ways. If this was happening in Center Square it would have been dealt with immediately. Same with residents being blocked from parking on Madison by construction vehicles that have no right to be there after the work is done and permits expired. So much for an equity agenda. We're second class citizens who can apparently be dismissed and ignored. Note the drug activity reported on seeclickfix back in March, that finally got a response this week (8 months later) saying it would be assigned to the neighborhood officer. At least no one tries to hide how they really feel about Park South residents.

I'm not sure why people are complaining about additional parking spots in Park South, you should be glad for extra parking. Don't complain to the parking authority as they do not have jurisdiction over this lot. This lot belongs to the development authority that is trying to develop the old Senior Citizen property. Also calling the police about a trailer truck loading good from someones house seams like a waste of police resources.Would you rather had the truck blocking the road?

This issue has been routed to the appropriate unit for review.
