Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. The City's Clean Water Program/Stormwater Program will be reporting back with more information shortly. We appreciate your attention to the lagoon and your concern for water quality.
An Environmental Specialist from the City's Clean Water Program visited the San Elijo Lagoon yesterday morning (8/23/17). There was no visible pollution reported. The cause of the strong odor may be related to the tides and more likely the dredging and construction currently taking place at San Elijo Lagoon. Additionally, the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy will be conducting a Restoration Project in a few months in the Fall of 2017. For more information about the Lagoon Restoration Project and/or the SANDAG/Caltrans I-5 widening, please call the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy at (760) 436-3944 or visit their website: https://www.sanelijo.org.
Thank you again for your time and concerns. If you see Stormwater Runoff or Pollution, please call the City's Clean Water Program at (760) 633-2787 or email CleanWater@EncinitasCa.Gov
