I had to weave around carts, bicycles, dogs and pedestrians while trying to accelerate onto the freeway. Extremely unsafe conditions!

That's my route every freaking morning and it is always like that. It's so dangerous! I lost count of how many people I've nearly hit with my car. It's really awful. Same as the encampment around the corner on Peralta under the freeway.

Yes. At the Peralta one I honked at someone the other day because they were walking on the street and veering more towards the center (Sidewalks are obviously blocked). The responds was to yell at me threateningly. Makes one feel real great. Thanks man, sorry I was concerned about hitting you. :-(

For those who have been concerned about the homeless encampments and the associated dumping of trash, people living under the freeway near Peralta and behind Home Depot area:

On Saturday, 9/16 at 1pm, the Emeryville councilperson will be meeting with residents (and concerned parties) to tour the area. The homeless encampments are on the agenda to be discussed. Meet at the corner of MacArthur and San Pablo by 1pm.

Also, for those who are on the Oakland side of this problem, please contact District 3 Councilwoman Lynette McElhany at 510-238-7003.

I also spoke with the City of Oakland Call Center regarding this constant issue and they only come out to clean up the encampments once a service request has been entered. (Using SeeClickFix will create a service request.)
