Description
There are no speed limit signs on Home Ave. west of Shelburne Rd. I have recorded cars and trucks going 70 MPH on our 2 lane street. The average speed seems to be 45 - 60 mph. This is a residential street with kids biking to school, people in wheelchairs and elderly people walking to get groceries.
People use Home Ave as if it is a highway into town and it is extremely dangerous. This street is not built to support this kind of vehicular speed and traffic, including massive 18-wheeler trucks.

On my way home from picking up my son from pre-school this early afternoon I noticed the new 25 mph speed limit sign just west of Shelburne Rd heading toward the lake. THANK YOU. After talking with many neighbors about the issue I was losing hope that anything would be done.
There is A LOT of pent up anger and resentment among the long time residents on Home Ave about the increasing traffic load, speeding and driver behavior. People say it has gotten steadily worse and with City Market opening soon the burden will only grow.
Hopefully, the stop sign will be a positive start toward influencing people's behavior to use Home Ave in the way that it was legally intended. If the Champlain Parkway is ever built that should help, but being perpetually two years away does nothing to improve the here and now.
Once again, thanks for this site and for the new stop sign!
