I agree and pre reported this as a FairlAwn P ark neighborhood wide problem that should be addressed with massive street sweeping efforts or whatever is necessary.

Street sweeping is under a rotating maintenance schedule city wide. Once finished with the last section of the city will start from the beginning of the list. Contractor has been notified about incident.

From personal experience I can vouch for the fact that the services that our city now provides fails miserably to their past history. I don't know who is setting up these schedules or hiring these contractors but it wasn't all that long ago that following an event like "IRMA" we'd have had the entire city maintenance crew mobilized with backhoes and dump trucks picking up debris in a neat , orderly, professional, manor; including the use of two city street sweepers. We had sufficient people and they were trained to do the job. The above Public Works Department response is unacceptable. It shows a complete lack of understanding of preventive maintenance of city streets and drainage. According to the weather forecasts we're looking for another 1.5" to 2" rain event this weekend from a possible tropical event building in the Gulf. Where does the PWD think all this trash and debris is going to end up and/or how many complaints of flooding does the PWD plan on responding to. Does the Mayor and City Council fully understand the inability of the Pinellas Park Engineering Department to rapidly and properly and professionally respond to emergencies? And for the record, the Miami gutters in the Fairlawn area were in bad shape even before "IRMA." No one has sprayed for plant growth in the gutters in over a year. More growth means more spalling of the concrete and asphalt where the streets are all ready in need of paving. And two years ago we were told that Fairlawn was slated to receive that street paving. None of the minor streets in Fairlawn have seen new paving except to fix critical flaws.

Agree with above and a rotating maintence schedule that doesn't take into consideration unusual circumstances is useless to the needs of the community! Although appreciative of storm debris removal, street sweeping must be completed before the job is done and before flooding presents a new set of problems that the city will be slow to respond to. It appears city leadership is insufficient.

actually when FEMA disaster cleanup crew in Fairlawn Park, the FEMA (NOT CONTRACTOR) representative informed me that sweeping crew would be through immediately after to take care of debris accumulation in gutters. (remember, this whole clean up is funded or reimbursed by FEMA) so lets get the job done instead of waiting for regular rotating schedule of maintenance to take place!!!!!
