Description

My son was hit in the eye with a paintball gun by a passing car filled with a group of males in it on Sept. 20 while on Chapel St. New Haven standing in line on the sidewalk. This was an unprovoked attack that was chosen randomly. After my son's attack I have heard of this being a ongoing issue in the New Haven area. Since this random act of violence my son's life has been turned upside down. The 1st two weeks he was at eye doctor everyday, the third week he was at eye doctor every other day. Now, finally after 6 weeks the doctors have determined that his eye drainage system has been damaged. He is facing two to three surgeries and a permanent tube put in his eye. The eye doctors at Yale said there has been an increase in patients coming in due to paintball attack injuries to the eye, these were random targets like my son. I have contacted the Majors office to make her aware of these horrendous attacks on our New Haven Citizen's, no one in the Mayor's office was aware that is was happening in our city. I want the police to take this more seriously and crack down on these offenders. It could be your mother, son , or child. And the eye doc said multiple innocent people have list their eyes just like my son. The police have a,duty to protect the public and something needs to be done.
