Right now it is much faster, easier and cheaper to just send a truck and pick it up. No camera purchasing, no installation, no video retrieval, no theft, no vandalism, no DPUC issues, no labor union resistance, no municipality review/approvals, etc. The list goes on and on. Also, dumping is taking place on private property owned by 610 FORBES AVE LLC per tax records. Years ago they would address these problems as the responsibility of the property owners but it looks like they no longer do this. Why? It is much faster, easier and cheaper to just send a truck and pick it up. I heard a telecom is working with the city and there are changes coming next year, we'll see what they come up with. Until then we should just keep reporting as the city is doing a very good job keeping this problem in control.
The issue was already acknowledged by the DPW and they are doing a great job responding to these posts. Voicing your opinion at the next mayor's night out may be more fruitful as the DPW likely has no say on how the city will ultimately address illegal dumping. Maybe our alderperson can post dates for any upcoming town hall sessions.
