The water main cap near this sinkhole has now popped out, presenting a hazard for parking/driving vehicles.

A 3-person crew just came and dumped asphalt into the sinkhole and then drove over it. They left a pile of gravel and asphalt on the shoulder and I asked them to clean it up. Was told no we leave it on the shoulder because there's nowhere else to put it. I asked them to put it on the truck and dispose of it properly, and was told they can't put it on the truck.

So - it's going straight in to the storm drain.

Wow! It "ripped off a wheel and axle" ? How fast the vehicle travelling?

Hello PB. How fast was the vehicle travelling when it's wheel was gripped by a sinkhole?
Exactly zero mph.
The axle and wheel must have been travelling very fast though, since they left the vehicle and went from West bound to North bound 20ft off Main St into my back deck.

No problem. Yea, that's ridiculous. I hope they actually correct the issue. It sounds dangerous. And that's a major commuter route to boot.

Yea. There's really no way to know how fast it was going, probably speeding like the majority of commuters. I fear this will be one of those issues that gets tabled until it's a bigger issue.

Road crew just patched again. How much is quarterly patching costing us and is it better to invest in a longer term solution where this fissure and sink holes don't threaten to let main st fall into my backyard.

You may think I'm exaggerating, but the section of main st out front has already traveled through my basement and yard. Hence the fancy new high curb sidewalk. The rest of the community needs safer sidewalks but evidently it must impact the daily commuter hustle in order to be considered worthy of attention.
