Description
Hi, my daughter and I were enjoying the nice weather by biking from our house on High St over the bridge and around Bay Farm. Across from the Raiders building we came upon a woman, 69, who had just taken a fall from her bike. The cause was the 4” unmarked, unintentional, and ultra steep speed bump caused by a tree root. I understand the city can’t possibly take care of every sidewalk disturbance caused by the many trees around the loop, but this one is extreme. My first concern is about cyclist safety. My second is the lawsuit this woman and others may file against the city for the obstruction. This photo does not nearly do it justice.

Dear Jeremy,
I am the woman you so kindly stopped to help after the accident described in this report.
Thank you for calling an ambulance for me. And thank you for reporting this root hazard. I was in too much pain and shock to ask your name at the time of the accident, but I am glad to be able to thank you again here. Your daughter seemed quite traumatized, and I hope she is OK.
FYI, I spent four days in the hospital and underwent a six-hour operation to replace my fractured left hip and repair my fractured left shoulder.
Thanks again for reporting this hazard. You are right — the photo doesn’t begin to do it justice.
