BLIGHT on CITY OWNED PROPERTY - It's bad enough residents have to live next to fenced in demolition and boarded up buildings for years, but the fenced in area is filled with trash that needs to be CLEANED UP. We residents who pick up trash in our neighborhood and park DAILY are unable to clean this up due to it being fenced in by the city. This mess on CITY OWNED property makes the entrance road to our beautiful Seaside Park and UB area look horrible and affects entire neighborhood. Please take care of this ASAP since residents cannot access.

Thank you for reporting your issue to the City of Bridgeport. An inspector will visit the property and begin the blight process, if a violation is found.

This is not City-owned, it is owned by Bridgeport Housing Authority.

Whether it's owned by BHA or the city is not the issue. It has to be cleaned and if we in the neighborhood can't access it we can't remove the trash. We don't want our streets to look like a dump site. Please help us in cleaning this area. Maybe we should have more trash bins on the street corners on Iranistan??

What would really help is if "no littering" signs with high fine amounts were posted around the city. Littering fines would create income for the city and deter people from leaving their garbage everywhere and treating the city like it's a dumpster.

I agree Angel. It would be great for the city to post No Littering signs with a huge fine if people were caught. Doesn’t it seem that would be something the city would want?

I would only question whether or not people who litter would pay any attention to signs. Not that it isn't a good idea to post the signs with warnings of large fines attached, if only to give the police an impetus to issue a ticket and collect the fine...though I think a community service requirement to spend 40 hours cleaning up the streets would be even better.

I'm with KFW on the futility of the signs. I think it's a waste of time and I doubt how much effort would go into enforcement. I do think trash cans in front of the stores on Iranistan should be required and continued pressure on developers to demolish and maintain Marina by us here and at South End Community meetings.
