SCF # 4177755 Would you please give me an update ?

Today at 4:45pm a speeding boat ran into the Grand Canal and then out again at 4:55pm. I actually suspect it was a small fishing charter dropping off clients. No way to actually tell as they were moving too fast to catch the numbers or a description, other than it was a white, open fish, center console with T-top, approx. 22 - 26 feet long. Single outboard engine with cream colored engine cover. The boat was up on plane and doing about 30 - 35 MPH. There is now, NO SIGNAGE to stipulate boat speed at the mouth of the Grand Canal. FWC had promised to fix this but it's been months since that promise and nothing has happened. Yesterday about this same time, there were several children swimming in the canal where this boat flew through today. The navigation channel is less than 30 ft wide. He would never have seen them until it was too late, if it was yesterday. PLEASE DO SOMETHING !!! This is not the first time that I have brought up the safety issue with the sheriff and marine patrol and FWC.
