  Two men, one with dreadlocks, who live in the tents were loudly threatening and harassing two different women out in the park with their dogs (2 separate incidents) about an hour ago. Both women are now okay and both said they were frightened during the encounters. This is a safety issue.

  Makes no sense that paid Oakland leaders can not take action when laws and codes are being violated and public safety is at risk, unless they get lots of complaints. What BS!

  I know how you feel and I feel the same way. Everytime, they keep telling that they need to know if there are enough complaints before they can take any action. I think I might helpful is email them and tell them your concerns. Otherwise, they will keep ignore our complaints till the lake turn into another tent city.

  I emailed the above people. Joe DeVries is the head of a commission on the current unsheltered population. I don’t know who the other two people are. Thanks to those above who provided the email addresses. I live across the street from this encampment and there has been an increase in problems the last year. I’m not saying that the tent residents are responsible for all of the other incidents, though.

  On the other side of the lake there are at least 8 encampments in the area behind the Camron-Stanford House as of 4/24/18. If this is not immediately addressed we'll face the same situation we have on the east side of the estuary underneath Lake Merritt Blvd and nearby Peralta Park.
