People Loitering in front of corner store / barber shop
this building is posted as NO TRESPASSING / No Loitering
I am asking for RPD to step up their patrols in the area
as there is a increase of suspicious people loitering in the area
(this is how GANGS move in: if they see that anyone can loiter etc, then next there will be drug deals going down as they like areas that have become seedy)

The Raleigh Police Department has responded:
We will monitor that area for issues. The “No Trespassing” signs are only valid for the property at that location, not for the city sidewalk. If someone is on the city sidewalk in front of the “No Trespassing/ No Loitering” sign, the police department has no authority to make them leave. Unless of course if there is a violation of the law.
The beat officers that are responsible for this area have been notified to patrol and look for violations. If the citizen wants to call 911 to report unlawful or suspicious behavior, they can do so anonymously. They just need to tell the telecommunicator that they wish to remain anonymous.
