  I am waiting to hear back from District 3 councilmember's office about this issue; Lake Merritt's sidewalks are becoming littered with these scooters, and someone is definitely going to get hurt on the sidewalks where they ride.

  Isn't the city of Oakland in charge of its own streets and resident safety? Why would we be referred to the company that's operating without rules?

  The City of Oakland has continued to deny any responsibility for the Lime scooters blocking public right of way, dangerous riding, and scooters left in the lake.

  I live on Grand Ave, right in the thick of action. I don't mind the traffic noise, the drunk people, the cars with nightclub sound systems installed, or the daily garbage pickups that begin around 4:00am. But motorized scooters on the sidewalk are an absolute assault on urban quality of life and safety. Almost every time I walk on Grand Ave, I am nearly hit by a motorized scooter that approaches from behind, and without any warning, wooshes by so close I can feel the air moving. Please Oakland, enforce the current laws prohibiting these scooters from operating on sidewalks!

  Our great state decided to capitulate to the scooter companies and changed the law so scooters can be ridden without helmets. Sidewalk riding is not legal, but the city doesn't seem to care about that, not do they care about scooters parked in the way of pedestrians.
