UPDATE: Pinellas County Animal Services has NOT dispatched an Animal Control Officer to investigate your issue as of 3:30pm Monday as they do not have enough officers. They will try to get an Officer out there ASAP BUT... They are basically like Code Enforcement that will check and see what is going on, then make a report and reach out to the owner of the pet, then they sit back and wait because that is ALL They Can Do. I am truly saddened by this information.

I spoke to animal services and they said that they cannot find the dog and the address may be incorrect. They mentioned that if there is a way to see this dog from a neighbors house, they need permission to go there and see it. Please find out if you have the right address and find a way for animal services to see the dog.

The correct address is 847 13th Ave S. The dog is kept confined to a small cage that is visible from the alley which passes between 847 13th Ave S and the Masonic Lodge to the west.

Hmmm, on Friday afternoon, June 29th, a White & Brown Pit Bull walked into my yard on Newton Avenue. It's ribs were poking through, his feet had sores, his backside bloody. No collar, could not 'feel' a chip. Called police as it was after 4pm and Animal Services were closed for the weekend, they advised calling Animal Services on Monday. We cleaned his wounds, fed and watered him and provided a bed on our front porch. Is this the same Pit Bull?

Back right leg has damage, like he was tied with wire or paw caught in chain.

A scar also appears on his right rear leg.

Pet Pal has a no kill shelter on 22nd St S. Maybe they have room. It’s really sad to see these poor animals being neglected. Thanks for looking after the one you found. Hope everything turns out ok for him/her.

Sgt Jay from P.C. Animal Control came by to pick up this dog. There was no chip. I was given a case number and will follow up on Thursday, July 5th.

I spoke to animal services, referred to the case #, and the address 847 13th Ave S. They said that they had an officer go out to the home on June 22nd and said that the dog appeared healthy, and was eating at the time. They said that the dog gets let out once a day. Does anyone believe that the dog ever leaves the crate? Does it look healthy? We may need to re-report this to see click fix....the person I spoke with didn't seem like she was talking about this same case.
