Thank you again for alerting us of this issue. County Traffic has investigated and informs me that the location is within an interstection controlled by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). Traffic staff contacted SHA and learned that a work order has been issued to install lane line extenstions at this location.

I use that intersection almost every day. They do need clearer markings but also there seems to be a visibility issue. There seems to be a little hill that twists a bit and its hard to see the other side. I think there are lots of places in Rockville where city planning seems to have been thrown right out the window especially on some parts of Executive Blvd. That intersection at Nicholson and 355 is just one of the more nasty spots. I usually have to go straight across that intersection and a lot of times there are folks, if I may be so polite to call them folks, that are in the right turn only lane and then decide they want to go forward/straight across and cut me off. I get tired of paying for other peoples mistakes. Some people will always be no damn good.

While crossing 355 these lanes shift to the right by more than one full lane width. I'm glad this is being addressed, but it should have had clear lane markings crossing the intersection from the start.

And I see the same panhandler mentioned earlier; while I feel for him, for everyone's sake I did call the non-emergency police number when he stood between lanes even after the light turned green. He retreated to the sidewalk when the light turned green since then, but if he is endangering himself and others, please call 311 or 240-777-4000.
