Valley Street has needed improvements for a long time. The traffic situation is unacceptable. Speeding traffic is not only dangerous, it amounts to theft of people's public space because it makes their property and space (yards and front of their homes) less usable.

Have you called your Alderperson to ask for an update? There is no reason why speeds should be more than 20 miles per hour on this road, and there are easy ways to bring them down to that.

Will the city's new complete streets policy address this? There's a hearing at the Board of Aldermen this week.

thanks for your response--i will try to go to that mtg, but it's hard since i have 3 little ones and my husband's working non-stop this week. but what you said was indeed true--we have had thefts to our cars, garage, shed, and trouble these past 7 yrs here. perhaps we can band together as neighbors here, and get things changed sooner than later. thanks, blessings, emily diff.

the city will hopefully implement its Safe Streets Legislation for our dangerous Valley St. we are waiting to see if they approve slowing the traffic down here with speed bumps and maybe a stop sign. if so, it will prevent alot of accidents and allow people to safely cross to the other side without being hit by cars.

I have been complaining about the RIDICULOUS SPEEDING on Valley St on here for YEARS and I have never once seen a single cop on Valley st. People go 60 all the time! There are stairs leading from Harrison St to Valley St that people use as a park entrance. There is a blind curve RIGHT at the stairs. You cannot see anything when you cross and the cars cannot see you. They could at least put up a mirror. They need to put a speed trap here instead of on Whalley near the graveyard. People speed at will and throw their McDonalds trash out of the window. I see groups from the Synogauge go down there with kids. I'm totally going to make a video because its so bad.

I also want to say that Valley St needed speed bumps way more than say the monstrosity that is West Park avenue. How much did that cost the taxpayers? All they have to do is make Valley St a frequent speed trap and voila.
