Several weeks ago EBMUD dug up the road on High Street. When they were done they "repaved" but left large long dips several inches deep and bumps and debris in the road, the very worst being from Foothill Blvd to Fairfarx Ave. I had brand new tires put on 3 weeks ago and this has already knocked the alignment off and caused me to loose a bolt. If the city cannot afford to fix this then EBMUD needs to be held accountable ASAP!

OAK 311 has received this issue. Your service request ID is #828604. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

At night, the dips and edges of the trenches, cause you to lose control because they're not visible. There are no "slow down" signs. By nature, to feel safe, the middle lane is used to avoid the temporary patches. Using the middle lanes for travel is unsafe. The situation is "accidents and personally damage/losses waiting to happen." I believe wheels have already been damaged
East Bay MUD needs to repave the road ASAP. They should assume any liability for accidents or car damage until then. I am referring this issue to the local news media.
There have been over 50 reports about these trench potholes and the safety issue the city just ignores these and files them under “pothole” when these are completely unavoidable! They’re putting your safety, my safety and my children’s safety at risk!! If someone else is responsible (East Bay Mud) then the city should have contacted them to repair it! This is just ridiculous! I’ve had quite a few head on collision scares because of this! We should all get in contact with a lawyer.
Yes there should be a collaborative effort between all interested parties and at the very least communication-between themselves and communities. For oakland 311 to offer an explanation of the city does not have enough money does not suffice or resolve. Unacceptable.
I completely agree that Oakland 311's response is unacceptable. This is not a simple pothole but there is no category that adequately describes the damage EBMUD did to our roads. Ideally the city would sue EBMUD for damages to hold them responsible for repavement but if they won't follow up on this then I will. If anyone contacts a lawyer and wants to file a class action suit let me know. I may follow up on this myself in a few weeks if I can't get a better answer.
