Left flyers in door, trash and recycling.

We got the flyers but unfortunately it is no help. Our recycle trash had been taken away, while it was only laying on the ground, but our regular trash which is in the bins wasn't emptied. Are you trying to say that I can't use trash bins only those government issued trash bags?

Hi, welcome to Malden. All trash has to be put in city of Malden blue bags which you can purchase at CVS. There are 3 different sizes but most people use the big ones. They are 10.00 for 5 bags. You can also put one large bulk item out every week. If you put 2 out they won’t pick up any. Go to cityofmalden.org and navigate to trash pickups. I think it may be under Department of Public Works. Thanks for the information! I was able to talk to one of my neighbours and they have explained it to me as well. I guess time to buy those bags and wait till next week.

Welcome. I'm sure it comes as a surprise that a good-sized city like this has a fee-based trash program that resembles what one would more typically expect to see in a more rural community. This is also a big part of why we have a massive illegal dumping problem city-wide. And it certainly doesn't help with the rats either (a growing problem all over greater Boston), as the program encourages trash to be kept on many properties for longer than it should be. The whole thing has been a failure, with the results being exactly what most residents said they would be. Since you are new here, please don't forget to register to vote. We have a city wide election next year.
