  Also just realized the pin was placed at the wrong location. This should extend on 58th street from Vicente to Hermann.

  Cars that park at the Southwest corner of the Hermann and 58th intersection block pedestrians from seeing cars coming up 58th, and vice versa. In addition, it's a blind intersection for cars coming down Martin. At least 10-15 kids cross here every day to get to school at Peralta.

  The vast majority of drivers fail to stop at the stop signs at the Martin/Ayala intersection as well which leads to the speeding down 58th. This is because Martin & 58th act as a connectors between Claremont and Telegraph so people use this thoroughfare as a shortcut.

  Traffic across this intersection has become hazardous to neighbors and dangerous for pedestrians. A daily contingent of school children, a visually impaired individual, and several elderly residents have all experienced near misses with cars. Vehicles cut across the intersection and do not respect the stop signs.

  Thank you Andy for initiating this effort! I’m not sure if this is within what’s proposed, but would there be speed bumps added near the corner of 57th and Ayala? Cars come around this corner really fast. Maybe painting the curb red at the No Parking area would help too, since people often park there, and don’t seem to see the signs (they can get hidden by the ivy growth).

  People drive way too fast on Ayala, 57th and 58th and there are few places to cross safely . I have also almost been hit crossing with my dog trying to get to Vicente Street. I appreciate the neighbors who have initiated and supported this!

  I am very much in support of this project, both the corners of canning and 58th and 59th I regularly capture video footage of people running the stop signs at full speed. With the number of families and pets in the neighborhood it's just a matter of time before there is a disastrous incident. Please do something about this!

  Bollards on Martin, running parallel to Ayala, would be the most effective solution. Bollards would prevent motorists from using Martin/58th as a shortcut to Telegraph. The problem is unlikely to repeat at the Forest/Ayala intersection, as the route from Forest to Telegraph is far less direct than the route from Martin to Telegraph.

  Residents on Martin could still access Claremont Avenue, residents on Ayala north of Martin would be unaffected, and residents on Ayala south of Martin would only need to go one block more (to Forest) to access Claremont.

  Commuters use Martin/58th St as a shortcut from Claremont to Telegraph, driving too fast and ignoring stop signs. Also, if I try to pull out of Hermann St on to 58th, I cannot see oncoming, much too fast traffic because cars are parked all the way to the southwest corner of Hermann and 58th, blocking my view. Not safe!

  People with children, pets and disabilities (I have the pleasure of all three) are in danger every time we cross at the intersections being discussed (​both ​Hermann and Vicente at 58th​,​ and Ayala at Forest, Martin and Hermann). My son, dog and I cross at least two, often four, of these intersections every day. Between drivers speeding and also navigating blind spots ​we are in danger each time. This is not an exaggeration -- come out and watch for just a minute and you will witness this. Bollards? Speed bumps? Foliage cutbacks? Better signage on street and on poles? I'm open to all.​

  Ayala Avenue @ Martin is ridiculously dangerous whether on foot, bike, or in car. Drivers speed through this intersection without even stopping at the stop sign to connect from Claremont Ave to Telegraph. I always get tense going through this intersection, and it's only a matter of time until someone gets seriously hurt here.

  58th Street between Martin and Telegraph has become a heavily used shortcut for commuters to go between Claremont Ave and Telegraph Ave. Last summer while parked on 58th street in front of my home at the corner of Vicente, my rear driver's side door was hit by a car while I had the door open to remove my child from his car seat. The driver didn't even realize they had hit my car door because they were not paying attention. Fortunately, my child and I were not injured in this incident, but I fear for my children every day when I take them to our car parked on 58th St. It has become a freeway for commuters and Uber/Lyft drivers using the traffic apps (like Waze) to avoid rush hour traffic on the main streets. Our residential streets were not designed for this kind of traffic. I hope that this issue is addressed before a more serious accident occurs.

  Ayala at Martin as well as 58th and Vicente and 58th and Hermann intersections are all in desperate need of addressing. Most drivers speed and run through stop signs here and I have had countless close calls. Please help!
