In older properties, typically built prior to the 1980’s, the water pipe to the property or the components of a properties water system may contain lead.
To participate in the water test that the city is offering please pick up a water sample bottle, which has instructions at Malden City Hall, 17 Pleasant St., 2nd floor Engineering Office. Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8 am – 4 pm. Tuesday 8 am – 7 pm. This water test will determine the lead level in the water, the test is free of charge.
Please note that the water sample needs to be collected when the water has had no use for approx. 6 hours, typically first use in the morning. If you live in a multi-family property this could be difficult to achieve.
